Nectandra Institute is a U.S. 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization founded in 1999 and registered in Costa Rica to carry out education, scientific research and community outreach programs to promote the conservation of cloud forests and stewardship of watershed ecosystems in northern Costa Rica.
Nectandra S.A. is a sister Costa Rican corporation created to generate income to partially support Nectandra Institute’s programs and activities. Nectandra S.A. manages Nectandra Cloud Forest Garden, a private cloud forest preserve, where scientific investigations on cloud forest flora and fauna are carried out. The Garden is open to public visits by reservation.
